POSITION TITLE (ENGLISH): Online Communications Campaigner
POSITION TITLE (CHINESE): 网络媒体推广主任
DEPARTMENT: Communications
LOCATION: Beijing
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Community Campaigner is responsible for strengthening Greenpeace East Asia's interaction with China's online public, establishing and engaging a pool of online opinion leaders to help with both campaign and communications work, and assisting the marketing of Greenpeace East Asia's website in mainland China.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish a pool of online opinion leaders:
1. Identify influential, active and enthusiastic online opinion leaders who care about China's environment, public health and development etc with expertise and recognized opinions to become key Greenpeace East Asia's online supporters;
2. By establishing, maintaining, and nurturing the above-mentioned pool of online opinion leaders, to initiate and guide timely online debates about Greenpeace campaigns when necessary;
3. To work closely and regularly with this pool of online opinion leaders for usual on-going environmental situations in China as well as Greenpeace values;
4. Regularly provide feedback and recommendations to campaign teams and other communications colleagues on the strategic cooperation with China's online opinion leaders.
Bridging direct interaction with the public:
5. Operate and maintain daily and timely interaction with China's online public to communicate Greenpeace East Asia's work and Greenpeace values through the official Greenpeace East Asia SNS and public email accounts and other Greenpeace East Asia online tools;
6. Identify the right online audiences for given projects of Greenpeace East Asia, and develop and implement interactive online communication and engaging plans together with the web team;
7. Timely and regularly share analysis of online public views, opinions and calls about China's environmental issues with communications and campaign colleagues in Greenpeace East Asia to improve Greenpeace East Asia colleagues' sensitivity to and understanding of public voices.
8. Be the major public face for Greenpeace East Asia to China's internet users.
SNS trends and techniques:
9. Follow developments in the unique language used by China's internet users and provide recommendations for how Greenpeace East Asia can speak to supporters in a trendier and more public-friendly manner.
10. Follow and monitor particular SNS tools to improve Greenpeace East Asia's knowledge and use of such tools for most cutting edge online communications;
11. Perform other duties as designated by the line manager.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor's degree or above. Two years or more working experience preferred
2. Native Chinese and English Proficiency, including fluency in internet jargon, sensitivity to different online communities and subcultures, and ability to vary idioms and communication style accordingly.
3. Expertise and experience with Chinese social network channels, BBS's, portals, special content sites (专业类网站), etc. preferably in administrator capacity.
4. Experience and familiarity with online marketing and promotional activities through such Chinese Internet channels.
5. Strong interpersonal, communications and coordination skills.
6. Analytical and strategic skills in communications.
7. Strong administrative skills including attention to detail.
8. Innovative.
9. Passion for environmental protection.
