About MEC Analytics and Insight
A&I is a central part of the MEC offer, providing the consumer insight, analytics and data visualisation knowledge, approaches and technical solutions to enable our clients build their business. A&I employs over 200 people around the world, including 15 people across the Asia Pacific region. *职位简介*:We are looking for a person to fill the role of China A&I Director, based in Beijing. The role has the responsibility for conceiving and implementing data analytics and insight plans for our key clients in MEC Beijing (notably Microsoft and Mercedes Benz) through integrating existing client and agency data sources as well as developing new workstreams to fill data and knowledge gaps. This person will be expected to provide a leadership role (along with client lead and strategic lead) on providing tangible recommendations based on data analysis.
The A&I function is broken down into five areas. The A&I role is a mix of quality control and leading the delivery of these areas, depending on the client situation and resource available with the agency account and planning team.
1. Discovery – Understanding the consumer, brand and client to develop sufficient information to create a strategic communication solution. This will involve using existing day to day resources as well as developing client specific and proprietary insight solutions.
2. Evaluation – linked to a clients’ objectives, measuring the result of communications activity to enable mid campaign optimisation and apply learnings for future.
3. Data and Technology – gathering, harmonising and visualising the business, brand and campaign data to enable faster and more accurate learning for both Discovery and Evaluation.
4. Efficiencies – ensuring that planning and analysis systems are available and efficiently functioning to minimise time wastage within the planning and account teams. For this part, the responsibility will be to brief relevant GroupM (MEC’s holding company) staff to deliver.
5. Thought Leadership – improving MEC’s standing in the market place through publicising proprietary analytics and insight thought pieces.
This role would focus primarily on the Evaluation, Data & Technology and Discovery areas.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Design and implement long term measurement plans, including campaign, attitudinal, behavioural and business metrics for key clients
• Provide client leadership to make recommendations and adjustments in the areas of media budget required, channel and geography allocation, and provide guidance to MEC team on system to optimise media placements
• Proactively identifying gaps in knowledge, looking for additional client revenue opportunities and working to implement solutions to fill these
• Keeping abreast of current industry and research thinking and approaches and having a good working knowledge of MEC offer in all areas of the business e.g. Interaction, Access, Strategic Planning, etc
Examples of tasks / projects:
• Data audit of client and marcomm data availability, frequency, level of access, etc.
• Integration of relevant data streams into single harmonised dashboard, to enable faster regular reporting, more effective response to client question, proactive identification of issues / opportunities
• Identify other evaluation providers – e.g. Millward Brown, CIC, etc to fill gaps in performance or consumer insight knowledge
• Provide analysis of past campaign performance based on agreed measurement plan and provide recommendations on future budget, channel mix and comms tasks which need to be addressed in future activity
Attributes for success
• Analytical skills. Highly numerical with experience of analysing and interpreting quantitative data from multiple sources and as a result delivering results which can tangibly benefit clients’ business. Passion for data and deriving insight out of it.
• Consultancy skills. Excellent client facing skills, and will demonstrate an ability to talk to senior clients and account management with confidence. Ability to understand and then address client needs. Ability to understand the whole breadth of the A&I offer so the candidate can comfortably discuss them with clients.
• Project management. Ability to manage several multi-disciplinary projects at once and consistently, to deliver high-quality work on schedule.
• Innovation. Ability to apply existing research approaches across clients and projects and to develop new approaches to meet client and MEC needs
• Communication. Excellent presentation and writing skills. Ability to clearly communicate research and data analytics results and concisely distil into actionable insights. Accuracy. A very high attention to detail is required when gathering and processing data from a wide variety of sources.
• Interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate and maintain credibility, and consequently, build strong working relationships with other MEC divisions, partner agencies, MEC network and A&I team. Team player with entrepreneurial “can do” attitude.
Skills / experience
• Client facing experience of providing data analytics and insight solutions, either in a research agency, media owner, digital or media agency, or advertiser.
• Graduate capability (business or marketing degree preferred but not essential)
• Fluent oral and written English is essential, Mandarin desirable
• Experience of commissioning and / or delivering qualitative and quantitative research projects is desirable.
• Experience of data management, data analytics, and designing and applying business intelligence dashboard solutions essential
• China media and/or marketing experience preferred
